How I got into Social Media..

Over the past few years, I have struggled with trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, just like every other college grad I am sure! I studied Advertising during my undergrad and I absolutely loved it. I went to an art school so it focused a lot on the creative side of Advertising and honestly, it was an amazing experience. I learned so much about design and color that I had never even thought about before. It will stay with me forever and I am forever grateful for the amazing teachers I had.

After college I worked in a start up Ad agency and it was, let's just say, interesting. It was an all men agency and being a copywriter was so much fun. I got to really focus on being creative with my writing but the experience I thought I would have just didn't seem to be playing out.  They only worked on Facebook ads and I wanted the creativity to work on more than just Facebook content.

I decided I wanted to learn more about marketing in general so I went back to school for my Master's in Marketing. This was by far the best decision I have ever made. It was an online program through Southern New Hampshire University. I got a job at a local magazine and the combination of learning more about social media and writing, along with learning at school opened up my eyes to more things I could have imagined.

Fast forward to today. I am still working at the lovely magazine and I have completed school and my degree is hanging on the wall. I wouldn't change any of my experiences for the world because it has taught me what I love and what I don't. I loved advertising but I love that now I know more about marketing and the importance of social media. I took many courses on online marketing and I have completely fallen in love. It is amazing how social media is evolving and changing everyday.

I honestly think what you can do within social media is incredible, it brings personality to a company and it is an amazing outlet to talk with the people who support you everyday. It brings out the person behind the logo. It allows consumers to actually have a conversation with a company, as a consumer myself I think that is absolutely incredible. It's a game changer for customer service, sales and especially marketing.
